Abstract
Child protective service practice is carried out within an anxious environment that is further complicated by economic pressures and public scrutiny. The role of the supervisor is critical in managing the anxiety while ensuring that the work is carried out. Supervision in the context of groups can offer a place of belonging where the world of practice slows down and allows for critically thinking through the work at hand within an environment of support, guidance and shared accountability and risk.
